{"id":293,"date":"2018-02-05T05:45:26","date_gmt":"2018-02-05T04:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/en\/?p=293"},"modified":"2018-02-06T08:18:43","modified_gmt":"2018-02-06T07:18:43","slug":"jedicut-2-4-a-new-release-for-the-first-jedicut-com-birthday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/en\/blog\/jedicut-cnc-software\/jedicut-2-4-a-new-release-for-the-first-jedicut-com-birthday\/","title":{"rendered":"Jedicut 2.4 &#8211; a new release for the first Jedicut.com birthday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\"><strong>Jedicut.com<\/strong><\/a> <strong>is celebrating its 1 year !<\/strong> And to celebrate it, here is the first Jedicut&#8217;s release of the year !<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\"> I have been working on this version for a few months.<\/span> <span class=\"\">You have been able to follow the progress of the developments on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/aeropassion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jedicut&#8217;s facebook page<\/a> or on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitter.com\/jedicut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jedicut&#8217;s Twitter feed<\/a>.<\/span> And as usual, the bravest have been able to test beta versions of Jedicut and contribute to the tests on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/forums\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jedicut&#8217;s forum<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s new :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New compiler<\/li>\n<li>High pixel density screen compatibility<\/li>\n<li>New location for *.ini files<\/li>\n<li>New UI for options form<\/li>\n<li>Automatic check of update availability<\/li>\n<li>Various bug fix<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Be careful :<\/strong><\/span> If you used an old Jedicut release, and if you installed Jedicut 2.4, you have to delete *.ini files manually <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">after Jedicut 2.4 first launch<\/span><\/strong>. In Windows File Explorer, find the hidden directory called\u00a0 <em>C:\\ProgramData\\Jedicut<\/em> and rename it like\u00a0 C:\\ProgramData\\Jedicut.old by example.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Compiler change<\/h2>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"Il y aura peu de changement visible, car le plus gros du travail a consist\u00e9 \u00e0 changer de compilateur (plus de 15ans entre l'ancienne version et la nouvelle...).\">There will be little visible change, because most of the work has consisted of changing the compiler (more than 15 years between the old version and the new &#8230;). <\/span><span title=\"Ceux qui programment comprendront l'ampleur de la t\u00e2che, et les autres... vous allez vous ennuyer si je rentre dans les d\u00e9tails :p \">People who program will understand the magnitude of the task, and the others &#8230; you will get bored if I go into the details :p<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I was mainly looking for 2 advantages :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A bette compatibility with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windiws 8.1 and Windows 10.<\/li>\n<li>A full compatbility with high density screens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To illustrate this last point, just take a laptop like ultrabook for example, or some large screen for desktop computer (the size isn&#8217;t t really important here).<\/p>\n<p>Before, Jedicut could show a litlle blur, unlike software from Microsoft or other major companies like Mozilla whose applications appear perfectly clear on screen.<\/p>\n<p>Now Jedicut&#8217;s display is perfectly readable ! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><em>Downside :<\/em> some images or icons may look too small on these screens. I tested a solution in the new window of Jedicu&#8217;ts settings, and if your feedback is good, I will gradually adapt all Jedicut&#8217;s pictures and icons.<\/p>\n<p>To respect Windows security rules, I had to move Jedicut settings files (*.ini files). If you are using installer, and you already have a Jedicut release installed, your files will be automatically moved during the first launch of Jedicut 2.4.<\/p>\n<h2>The new Jedicut settings window<\/h2>\n<p>The main visible change in this new release is the Jedicut options window :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New icons,<\/li>\n<li>New colors,<\/li>\n<li>New tab design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jedicut_Options_new_design_03.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1055\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jedicut_Options_new_design_03-600x388.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"388\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I let you discover that by yourself and tell me what you think.<\/p>\n<h2>Automatic check for update<\/h2>\n<p>You can now, if you wish, let Jedicut automatically check if a new stable release is available for download.<\/p>\n<p>You can activate this feature in the Jedicut&#8217;s preferences window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jedicut_new_release_notification_02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1057\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jedicut_new_release_notification_02-421x600.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"421\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When a new release of Jedicut will be available, a notification will appear in the menu. Click on it and Jedicut will launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/en\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jedicut&#8217;s download page<\/a> with your favorite browser.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jedicut_new_release_notification_01.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1058\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jedicut_new_release_notification_01.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"138\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Caution : notifications don&#8217;t concern, for now, the beta release that you can find following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedicut.com\/forums\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>In conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>I let you discover all the other small changes.
